What the practice brings In TCM, headaches are linked to disturbed circulation in the meridians of the head, often related to the Liver (tension, stress, irritability = rising Yang) or to an energy deficiency (Blood/Yin no longer nourishing the head). Acupuncture, recognised by the WHO for certain headaches, aims to: - Restore the free circulation of Qi and Blood in the cranial meridians (GB, B, L, CV) - Bring the Liver Yang down when it rises to the head (ophthalmic migraine, tension) - Nourish Blood and Yin when the terrain is deficient (fatigue headaches, menopause) - Clear the Mucosities that obstruct the orifices (heavy headaches, "helmet" feeling)
Sophrology complements this by lowering the general level of tension that predisposes to attacks: releasing shoulders/neck/jaw, full breathing, better sleep, managing triggers (stress, screens, diet).
When to seek help It may be useful to consult if: - Frequent migraines or tension headaches (4-8 days/month or more) - Disabling attacks despite acute or preventive treatment - Identified triggers: stress, fatigue, periods, weather, diet, screens - Alongside neurological treatment to limit the dose or side effects - Chronic daily headaches (medication-related or not)
