Short Answer
Many expats share this concern. In practice, your European Health Insurance Card (EHIC / Carte Européenne d'Assurance Maladie) generally does not cover sophrology or acupuncture, because these are complementary, non-reimbursed practices. The EHIC covers medically necessary care during a temporary stay under your home country's rules; it does not cover private complementary sessions.
Long Answer

What the EHIC Actually Covers

Your European Health Insurance Card (EHIC / CEAM) exists so that EU citizens can access medically necessary healthcare during a temporary stay in another EU country, under the same conditions and reimbursement rules as local insured people. Its logic is emergency and necessity, not elective complementary care.

What the French System Actually Requires

In France, sophrology and most acupuncture are practised as private, non-reimbursable complementary services. Because they are not covered by the state health insurance (Assurance Maladie / CPAM), the EHIC has nothing to reimburse for them. If you hold a Carte Vitale and a médecin traitant, a hypnosis or acupuncture session performed by a non-medical practitioner still won't be refunded by the state — only some mutuelles (supplementary health insurance) offer an annual 'alternative medicine' allowance.

How Ghislaine Can Help

For an expat, the practical step is to check your own health insurance: EHIC for urgent care, your private international policy (e.g. MSH, Allianz) or French mutuelle for your complementary sessions. Some expat policies do include a budget for complementary care — ask your insurer. Then book your session: Ghislaine practises in English at Centre Équilibre, 29 Quai Claude Bernard, 38000 Grenoble.
In summary
  • EHIC covers medically necessary care, not private complementary sessions.
  • Sophrology/acupuncture are not reimbursed by French CPAM.
  • Check your mutuelle or expat policy for an alternative-care allowance.
